Live comments from the CCP Summer Conference 2013

Thibaud Vergé (CREST) talked about the institutional reform of the French competition policy and the impact on the quality of competition decisions. The institutional reform has led to a number of changes including a new Phase 3 in merger control which allows the minister to review and modify the merger decision on “general interest” grounds. Additionally a simplified procedure in merger control reduces the possibility for lobbying. The authority can now also independently carry out inspections in antitrust investigations.
