Live comments from the CCP Summer Conference 2013

Stephen Martin (Purdue University)  discussed in his presentation entitled “Shaping Antitrust Institutions”, the impact of the Chicago School on the US judiciary in the antitrust context. He argues that a systematic campaign led by Chicago economists including Aaron Director and George Stigler aimed to delegitimise judicial and governmental interference in the market. They wanted to minimise  Section 2 enforcement and largely restrict it to Section 1 enforcement.
